Finally some decent pictures

I got photos of all the pups individually today!  That took some time.  I am trying to get a slideshow of them up, but Google is not cooperating.  Will work on that.  Next I'll try to get a video.  They are all getting very active and entering the cute stage.  With this many I think they are going to have to move to the family room soon.  With a smaller litter I can set up plenty of play things in the office.  With 12, we need more room....

Here is a picture of Cayuse with all the pups:

More pictures and an update

They are all moving around a lot now, and between naps and feeding are getting pretty noisy.  Several of them have found their voices and really like practicing!

I still need to learn how to focus this camera better!  But here are a few shots:

Pictures - or at least an attempt at pictures

So, I promised pictures this afternoon.  What I did not take into consideration was having to get some work done (bills must be paid) and then it is Wednesday - our club training day for the older dogs!  Which was great fun of course.  We train with Puget Sound Dog Sports twice a week (or at least as often as the work schedule allows!).

But, I did get some done this evening.  The puppies were not very cooperative.  They wanted to explore the futon, look for Mom and just generally move a lot.  But here is the best of the lot:
The Boys - or at least most of them

All the boys

The girls - either they are more cooperative or I am getting better...

Most of the girls

The girls again - just had better luck taking their photo!

So - tomorrow I will attempt better pictures, and try to include Cayuse this time.  She will like that.

Pups doing great

I figured out this Blog stuff a little late, which meant with my first post yesterday I left you all two weeks behind.

Tails & dewclaws and a basic puppy check were done at our local veterinarian on August 13, when the pups were two days old.  So far, that has been their only trip outside my office/guestroom where they were born.

It is amazing how all the seconds add up when you are doing the "Super Puppy" bio-sensor handling with 12 pups!  But since research shows it helps development, we stick with it.  It also gives us a daily chance to check all the pups and make sure they are doing well.  They are all gaining weight nicely. We are starting to leave the door open more (with a baby gate up) so that the other dogs can get used to the puppy smell, and so that they hear more of the house activity.  In a couple weeks or so, they will move to the family room where they will get plenty of exposure to lots of sounds, animals and people.  Our set up there allows for outside access to a secure area.

Eyes started opening this past weekend.  Most of them have their eyes open now.  I actually remembered to charge my camera battery, so will post pictures this afternoon!

Puppies arrived August 10, 2011

Cayuse started in the early morning hours (about 1AM).  She quickly popped those pups out - about one every 20-30 minutes.  The ultrasound showed 8-9 pups, so when puppy number 8 arrived at 3:23AM, I figured we were about done.  Then she was followed closely by puppy number 9 (male) at 3:38AM.  Cayuse was nursing them, I cleaned up a bit and got ready for a nap before getting up for the morning chores.
But there were some tricky pups that hid from the vet's ultra sound!
At 4:06 she delivered pup number 10, another male.  "Okay", I thought, "another male is nice.  We must be done now.  But no.  She whelped two more males before sunrise.  THEN she was done!
Final count - 6 boys and 6 girls!  All healthy and with in a couple ounces of each other in weight.  Cayuse is an excellent Mom.
